About Me

HYON     Do you often feel weighed down by feelings of anxiety, sadness, anger or loneliness, feeling that no one can understand your Invisible pain? Pain that hurts so much that you feel numb and would do anything to find peace! Hello, my name is Hyon Bachman. I am a therapist specializing in helping people rediscover courage, peace and freedom through compassion, self-awareness, forgiveness and spiritual journey. I provide individual, couples and family therapy, and maintain a private practice in the state of Virginia.

I graduated from Liberty University for my graduate work in Professional Counseling (M.A.) and majored in Psychology at the University of Maryland (B.S.). I've had the privilege of working with a multi-cultural background of people from all over the world (Asia, Europe, South America, South Africa, Middle East to name some).  Having the freedom to express our faith, I love learning God's wisdom and his infinite love for each of us.  I am learning that my relationship with Christ is what sustains me personally in the midst of storms.  My belief in the thought that I am wonderfully and fearfully made (Psalm 139:14) through God's workmanship (Ephesians 2:10) and knowing his grace is all I need (2 Corinthians 12:9), is liberating.  I hope to honor him by being true to myself, open to change within me according to his integrity and speak the truth in love while recognizing our imperfection.

I enjoy learning about human minds, their unique perceptions and fascinating thought processes. Meeting you where you are and connecting with you in a way unlocking the power of BraveWithin you for healing is a privilege and exciting! With structural tools and effective evidence-based treatments, I utilize Integrative Therapy to include "focused and structured" Trauma-informed Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-focused, Strength-Based Existential Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), self-awareness & focusing on "Here and Now"- Gestalt Therapy and support clients in making meaningful, authentic and spiritual directed choices about life.

I have been married for over 30 years, have an awesome young adult son and a daughter. Also two plus one dogs and 3 guinea pigs; Cocoa, Princess and JamJam. I look forward to walking alongside you in this journey and be part of your healing and restoration process.
